This is Ferrari’s worst nightmare and one of the most unique looking Supercars on the road today. The carbon fiber monocoque chassis is quite a unique feature of the McLaren and weighs a mind-blowing 165lbs. This is an overall beautiful machine with incredible performance. This is a driver’s car that is ready for the track or a wonderful Sunday cruise.
The beautiful black and orange leather seats are quite comfortable and hold you firmly during acceleration and cornering. The interior is elegantly riddled with carbon. The air-conditioning controls on the upward opening doors are quite unique. In the center there are two rotating knobs that adjust handling and power train parameters in normal, sport, and track modes. Coaxial buttons activate the rear wing and enable manual shifting. The 9,000rpm tachometer sits in a highly informative gauge cluster that is really one of a kind.
The aerodynamic, low riding McLaren is certainly a neck breaker. The large carbon fiber side ducts are a beautiful work of art and certainly function well. The orange paint is immaculate and has a 3M clear bra on the front for total paint protection. With 20 inch wheels in the rear and 19 inch wheels up front the stance of this car is fantastic. It has a great rake that really defines the lines of this smooth beauty.
The twin turbo V8 produces 593 horsepower and gets this rocket to sixty miles per hour in three seconds. The power is so linear that it almost feels like an electric motor. Mated up to a Seamless Shift Gearbox (SSG). This transmission is comprised of two wet clutches and seven forward speeds. There is no lag time in between shifts giving this vehicle the feeling of a direct drive. As far as the suspension goes, the non-conventional shock absorber pistons have no orifices or valves. Instead, the flow restrictors are located where the hydraulic lines attach to each cylinder. The size of the restriction, which is varied by an electronic controller, determines the amount of damping provided. The rear wing lifts to 32 degrees for enhanced down force or 69 degrees to act as an air brake. The airfoil, which is deployed by a small hydraulic cylinder, uses wind pressure to reach its maximum height. The technology on this car is simply fascinating. This McLaren was well cared for by the previous owner and runs and drives perfectly.
