Description:

This 1957 Aston Martin DB Mark III is one of approximately 551 examples produced between 1957 and 1959. Chassis AM300/3/1480 underwent a refurbishment by Gentry Lane of Toronto, Canada. The car is finished in silver over burgundy leather upholstery, and power comes from a 2.9-liter inline-six with twin SU carburetors paired with a four-speed manual gearbox. Equipment includes a dual exhaust system, front disc brakes, 16″ wire wheels, Lucas driving lamps, and a sliding sunroof. The DB Mark III debuted in March 1957 as an evolution of the DB2/4 Mark II and shared much of its predecessor's Tickford-built aluminum bodywork. Design cues introduced on the Mark III included a DB3S-inspired lower-profile grille, smaller door handle assemblies, and opening rear side windows.

Interior:

The right-hand-drive cockpit features low-back bucket seats and rear seating surfaces trimmed in burgundy leather. Color-matched upholstery extends to the door panels, while black carpets line the floors. The DB Mark III featured a revised instrument arrangement that concentrated the gauges ahead of the driver. The three-spoke steering wheel wears a vinyl wrap, and it frames Smiths instrumentation including a 6k-rpm tachometer, a 140-mph speedometer, and combination gauges.

Exterior:

This example received bodywork and was repainted silver during the 2016 refurbishment. Features include polished bumpers with overriders, Lucas driving lamps with stone guards, a hood scoop, fender vents, and a sliding sunroof. The chrome wire wheels wear two-eared knock-off hubs and are mounted with 6.00–16 Firestone Deluxe Champion bias-ply tires. The independent front suspension incorporates trailing arms and an anti-roll bar, while the solid rear axle is located by a Panhard rod and parallel trailing links. Coil springs and Armstrong lever-arm shock absorbers are utilized all around. Stopping power is provided by front discs and rear aluminum drums.

Drivetrain:

The 2.9-liter DOHC inline-six was an evolution of the W.O. Bentley-designed Lagonda engine that was re-engineered by Tadek Marek for use in the DB Mark III with a stiffened crankshaft and revisions to the cylinder head, cylinder liners, and timing chain. Equipment includes twin SU carburetors, a flip-up oil filler cap, and a spin-on oil filter conversion. The cylinder head was rebuilt during the 2016 refurbishment, and the engine was repainted at that time.
